Recipe

Braised Beef with Red Wine

Ingredients:

  • 1kg beef chuck, cut into chunks
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups red wine
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 2 sprigs thyme
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot. Brown beef chunks on all sides and set aside.
  2. Sauté onion and garlic until softened. Add wine, beef stock, and thyme. Bring to a simmer.
  3. Return beef to the pot, add carrots and celery, and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Cover and simmer on low heat for 2-3 hours, or until beef is tender. Serve warm.
