Smoked Salmon Tartare (Tartare de Saumon Fumé)
This light and elegant smoked salmon tartare is a perfect match for the crisp acidity and minerality of a fine Loire Valley white wine, enhancing the fresh flavours of the dish.
Ingredients (Serves 4):- 200g smoked salmon, finely chopped
- 1 small shallot, finely diced
- 1 tbsp capers, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh chives, chopped
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Crusty bread or crackers, for serving
- Prepare Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the smoked salmon, shallot, capers, dill, and chives.
- Make the Dressing: In a small bowl, whisk together the Dijon mustard, olive oil, and lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Combine: Pour the dressing over the smoked salmon mixture and gently toss until evenly combined.
- Chill: Cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavours to meld.
- Serve: Spoon the smoked salmon tartare onto a serving plate or mould into small portions using a ring mould. Garnish with extra dill and chives. Serve with crusty bread or crackers.
